Drawing Out Peirce
From Chaos to the Edge of Meaning
Navigates and locates some of Peirceās most abstract concepts using diagrams.
Charles Sanders Peirce is one of the most influential American philosophers to date. Numerous attempts have been made to map out and connect key areas of his complex philosophical project. Whilst Peirce advocated the important role played by diagrammatics, as yet there are no dedicated attempts to ādraw outā these connections.Gareth Abrahams uses his skills as an architect to develop a sequence of diagrams that navigate two of the most abstract and poorly understood areas of Peirceās project: his proposals for a phenomenon outside of the mind and the perception of the phenomenon within the mind (the phaneron). In doing so, he offers a fresh approach to Peircean scholarship, and to the way we think about and navigate philosophy more broadly.
