Folklore is no longer the preserve of dusty museums and long-forgotten local festivals. In recent years there has been massive renewed interest in all aspects of traditional folk culture – by which we mean the often outlandish myths, legends, customs and stories mysteriously passed down through generations of everyday folk. Folklore also has an incredibly rich visual aspect, illustrations have been used for many years to help tell these stories and, in turn, folk culture has inspired the work of many artists, both historical and contemporary.

The Art of Folklore will collect together over 200 images from across the world into a unique volume of visual inspiration.
